Temporary email that blocks trackers

Many emails hide tiny images that report when, where and on what device you open them. We block them, and show you how many we stopped.

A temporary address keeps your real email out of a website’s database. But the emails you receive can still report back on you.

    How email tracking works

Many marketing emails contain a tracking pixel: an image so small you cannot see it. When your inbox shows the email, it downloads that image from the sender’s server. That request tells them:

    • that you opened the email, and when,
    • your approximate location, from your IP address,
    • what device and email app you used.

Researchers have found that this kind of tracking is common even in emails sent to temporary addresses. So a disposable inbox that loads every image still leaks information.

    What we do

    • Trackers are blocked before the email is shown to you.
    • A short line at the top of each email says how many we blocked, for example We blocked 3 trackers in this email, or that none were found.
    • Other images stay hidden until you press Load images. Then they load only for that email.

Text, links and verification codes are never hidden, and our one-tap Copy code button still works.

Why it matters even on a throwaway address

The sender may not know your name, but tracking still tells them your address is active. Active addresses get more emails. Blocking trackers keeps your temporary inbox quiet and your location private.

    Other good habits

    • Use a new address for each website, so one sender cannot connect you across services.
    • Delete the address when you are done, or let it expire.
    • Never type passwords into pages opened from emails you did not expect.

    Questions

    What is an email tracker?

Usually a tiny, invisible image inside an email. When your inbox loads it, the sender learns that you opened the email, when, and often your approximate location and device.

    Do you block all images?

Known trackers are always blocked. Other images stay hidden until you press Load images, and then they load only for that one email.

    Will some emails look incomplete?

Newsletters with many pictures can look plain until you load the images. Text, links and verification codes always show.

Does this work on every email?

It works on every email you receive here. The counter shows how many trackers we found in each one.
